Log files

Blax Software follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites, all hosting companies do this as part of hosting analytics. The information collected includes IP addresses, browser type, ISP, date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any personally identifiable information. The purpose is to analyze trends, administer the site, track movement on the website, and gather demographic information.

Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, Blax Software uses cookies. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the user experience by customizing our content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

Analytics, and how we measure use

When you allow it on the consent banner, we run a self-hosted instance of Matomo, an open-source web-analytics tool, to count visits and learn which pages people actually read. The instance lives on our own server in the EU; no analytics data ever leaves our infrastructure, and no third party (Google, Cloudflare, Meta, ...) is involved.

  • What we record: the page URL you visited, the page that referred you to us, the timestamp, your screen resolution, and the browser / operating-system family.
  • What we do not record: your full IP address, your name, your email, or anything you type into a form. The last two octets of the IP are stripped at the server before any row is written to the analytics database.
  • No cookies on your device: Matomo runs in cookieless mode, so we do not drop a _pk_* identifier or any other persistent storage when you allow analytics.
  • No cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting: the data lives only within blax.at; we have no way to recognise you on any other website, and we do not try.
  • Do Not Track is honoured: if your browser sends the DNT header we drop the visit even if you previously clicked Allow.
  • Retention: aggregated visit data is kept for no longer than 14 months and then deleted; raw request logs age out within the 30-day server-log window described below.

You can change your decision at any time using the control just below. If you'd rather we didn't measure anything, that's fine, we work the same way regardless.

You haven't decided yet.

Third-party advertising

Third-party ad servers or networks use technologies like cookies, JavaScript or web beacons in their advertisements and links that appear on Blax Software. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs and use these technologies to measure effectiveness and personalize content. Blax Software has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this notice, or as the law requires. The concrete periods we apply:

  • Server access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp): 30 days, then deleted.
  • Contact form messages and attachments: until your inquiry is resolved, plus 6 months for follow-up correspondence.
  • Invoicing and contract correspondence: 7 years, as required by §132 BAO (Austrian Federal Fiscal Code).
  • Cookie data: as described in the cookies section above, typically session-only or short-lived.
  • Backups: rolling 30-day window, overwritten in place once they fall out of the window.

Once a retention period ends, the corresponding data is deleted from production systems and ages out of backups within the rolling backup window. If you ask us to delete your data earlier, we honour that request unless a legal obligation forces us to keep it.

Children's information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Blax Software does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think your child provided this kind of information on our website, please contact us immediately and we will do our best to promptly remove such information from our records.
